Thankful

Well, it's October. I love the crisp and sunny days of autumn with their glorious colours and crunching leaves. We enjoyed a wonderful time with my parents & brother's family over the Thanksgiving weekend that ended with a hike through Allan Park. It was absolutely gorgeous!

I've been trying to work on my gratitude. On being content with all that I have and on making a conscious effort to thank God on a regular basis for all that I've been given. I've also being working on that with the kids so that they are aware of just how lucky we are to live where we do and to be blessed with all that we have. It's so true that when you focus on your blessings it can't help but give you a spirit of thankfulness and a feeling of being truly content. It's a wonderful and peaceful way to be and I know that it pleases my Dad in heaven, so what better reason?!

Here are a few of my favourite things that I'm especially thankful for this month:

My WONDERFUL family...I can't believe how blessed I am to have such an incredibly hubby & such awesome kiddies!

I love that we can have FUN together and that we all love to spend time as a family (I pray that this never changes)

I'm thankful for awesome friends that are in my life (not just the ones in this picture), that I can share great times with and that I know are there for me in the tough times too.

I'm thankful for the 6th member of my family :) Zipporah. Even though many people can't understand why I would love a snake, she has truly been a wonderful addition to our family. I marvel at the way God created her to be so strikingly beautiful and I love to watch the way that her body moves and am always blown away by the way she eats.
I am also so thankful for the creativeness of God. It blows me away how He created this world with so many incredible features...from the intricate features of moss on a tree (above) to the miracle of new life as I attend a birth and witness a brand new 'soul' being born. He blows me away!!

So make sure you take time this month, in your busy and hectic schedules, to notice the beauty that surrounds you and to thank the Giver of all beauty. The book I've been studying at church (Sacred Chaos) has really been helping me to do just that...a great read, I highly recommend it.

Blessings,

Mel
