Our new favourite site at MacGregor
One evening my dad & I were biking with the kids down the road at dusk when we spotted 3 deer in the thicket. Suddenly we heard a crashing sound and saw a deer jumping up onto the road right in front of us, bounding across the gravel road in almost a single leap, it was breathtaking! I wish I would have had my camera along because right behind it another came leaping through the woods and bounded across the street. We were so excited it was hard to keep from squealing (I think we may have been pretty loud actually :)Here is another wildlife friend that we were admiring. In this shot he is cooling off in the spot below our water tap...isn't he gorgeous?
There is nothing I love more than to be in that park: sitting at the campsite listening to nature all around me, or biking or hiking the 30 km of trails in the park. (I was disappointed in the rude & obnoxiously loud neighbours we had on the last 2 nights that we were there, but that was very rare in that park!).We also caught some gorgeous sunsets while we were there:
This one was at one of the points on the rocky beach
And this one from the main campers beach, notice the kids swimming...it was awfully chilly that night! We were delighted that my parents agreed to join us this year. I think they fell in love with the park as well :) My mom had to work a couple of the days, but she took Friday off to enjoy the weekend with us (thanks mom, I know that wasn't easy for you). My parents did great keeping up with my kiddies on those long, long bike trails :) It brought back wonderful memories of camping with them as a child. I even picked up on one of their ideas & had my kids wash the dishes all week (a chore I wasn't real thrilled to be on the other end of). The kids didn't argue too much about it and even managed to have fun doing it at times (when they weren't fighting over who got to wash).

Camping is always the richest family time that we spend each year as well. There is nothing like bonding in nature far, far from the distractions of cleaning the house, daily appointments, TV and the internet...pure bliss to me!
Daddy sure loved it when Lyric fell asleep on his lap on the last night there! AwwwwThe only downside was that we got hit by the terrible storm Sunday morning. My brilliant hubby got me out of bed early though so we could tear down the trailer & kitchen tent before it hit (good work babe).
This week as I prepared my sermon for today I asked God to reveal Himself to me again through nature. He didn't disappoint! On Wednesday when I drove to Wingham to buy a mouse for Zippy a momma deer and her two babies came running towards the fence at the side of the road. I slowed right down, but she just looked at me and led them back towards the bush again (this was at 10:00 a.m., not the usual time to see deer out!). Then Thursday night on my way home from Stratford I saw my first red fox at the side of the road. I could see his eyes from far back and slowed right down (I have a terrible record of hitting animals), I thought it was a cat, but it was a gorgeous fox! So cool.
Thanks for the love notes Daddy!
Mel
