KOA is A-OK

Hehehe, what a clever title eh?

We had a super weekend up at the KOA in Owen Sound this past weekend with some people from our church that were interested in Digging Deeper into what God has planned for us in the future. I will be writing posts this week about things I picked up from the retreat since I don't want to write it all in one post...it would be pretty overwhelming.

One of the parts of the weekend that I really appreciated was the one night around the fire when we affirmed others about what we felt they were really good at. What an encouragement to have people tell you what they think you do well! At first many of us had a hard time with accepting the compliments, but with a little practise, we could manage to just say "Thank You"...right Kathy? :) I thought about how great it would be if people would affirm others on a regular basis! Why don't we do that? Really, how hard is it for me to say "Joel, I appreciate how you're such a great involved father to my kids!". It only takes a moment to say. I'm going to work on that one. Really thinking of why I appreciate people in my life and telling them about it.

It was a great weekend to connect with other people from church that I didn't know really well. Being able to have conversations that weren't interupted by the kids was a real treat!

A big thanks to my mom and dad once again for watching the kids for us. I know their weekend wasn't nearly as relaxing as ours!

Mel.
