A Wonderful Weekend

We just got back from my mom and dad's, we had such a wonderful and relaxing weekend with the family. My brother Mike and his wife Karie were also up with their kids. It's always a blast when we all make it up at the same time.

The kids (and my dad...the big kid :), were SO excited about the fireworks that my dad was going to set off Saturday night. In Hanover, however, Saturday night included God's own light show. We had a thunderstorm and a major windstorm. It was something to see my mom's plastic adirondack chairs lifted into the air and bouncing across the back lawn!

So last night we were finally able to see the fireworks. Well, my kids were all terrified! So much so, that Obi actually begged to go inside and after the display was over we went into the house and found he had put himself to bed and he was fast asleep! Poor little guy!! Lyric was fine as long as I put my hands over her ears, and Izzy plugged her own ears and watched most of the show. Maybe next year they'll enjoy it more!?

We had a great time anyway! My dad got to dabble in his pyrotechnic world..he's actually considering getting his licence by taking some 8 hour course in Toronto that the firework saleslady told him about. He's determined to surprise the lake someday with a professional-display-sized big boomer. I wouldn't put it past him either :)

Thanks God for a great time with family. Hope you all had a good weekend too.

Mel
