I was wondering what on earth I could write about today and I wanted to post more pictures from camping, so I decided to write about why I hate the beach :) I'm not sure if I've always hated the beach or not, growing up I never lived close enough to a beach to spend any significant time on one. I remember swimming at the big Kiwanis cement hole. That suit me just fine with the grass all the way up to the cement. Warning: this post is not the usually upbeat one, you may even find some cynicism here...sorry if I offend anyone. So here's why I hate the beach:
#1 Sand EVERYWHERE (in your food, in your face, in your eyes, in other body parts where sand has no right to be)
#2 No relief from the sun
#3 Dirty water that causes pinkeye and stomach bugs
#4 Rocks in the water that you can't see until you stub your toe on them
#5 Sunscreen that helps the sand stick to my children and makes it impossible to brush off
#6 Having to run the kids to the bathroom to peel their sticky wet bathing suits off so they can go
#7 You can't wear shoes on the beach (and I am not a Siebert by blood so I actually ENJOY wearingn shoes :)
#8 Feelings of insecurity over my aging post-birth body in a bathing suit when I'm surrounded by young skinny girls in string bikinis
#9 Sitting in front of my kids while they shake off their wet, sand filled towels in my face
#10 How dry and gross my skin feels after leaving the beach
Okay, so I'm not doing much to cheer people up today. I'm really not in a bad mood, I just wanted to share the feelings that were going through my head last week as I sat on the beach with my family.
I know I talked about how great the beach at MacGregor Point was, and truly it is great....for a beach!!
Here's what I do love about the beach: Sunsets on the beach. Now nothing beats that. There's the silver lining for ya.

I laughed like crazy when I read this Blog. I can identify with all your points but I still love the beach. Maybe more because I grew up here.
Great blogging! I'm enjoying reading this and getting to know you in a different way.
