For the Canada Day weekend our
fam. headed up to my mom and dad's for the weekend. This has become a yearly tradition for our family (almost as fun as Thanksgiving and Christmas :) My dad gets all excited and puts a LOT of effort into choosing which fireworks he's going to purchase (not the crap that comes in a box from
WalMart), and what order he will detonate them in. We all gathered around to enjoy the show (I think the adults were just as excited as the kids) and it was quite the show. With hoots and hollers from the neighbours. His dream is to someday take the Pyrotechnics course in Toronto and be able to set off one of the big ones that actually shake the ground that you see at big city shows. I love my Dad!!
Here are some pics of other highlights of the weekend:

Here's my nephew Jakob with my bro Mike. Jakob and Obi probably fished for over 12 hours over the course of the weekend. The tan on Obi's face was hilarious. This was Jake's big catch

Jakob, Izzy and Obi enjoying Madagascar on the beds set up under the stars. Jake got the player for his birthday. It was like being at the Drive-In, but on a much smaller scale :) The boys (and young girls) all slept outside all weekend. The girls in the tent, the boys on these mattresses under the stars

I just had to include this pic. This is my dear Sister-in-law Karie. She's going to kill me for this one...
ach, you know you love me Kare

Here's my Dad
sippin Margueritas. YUCK!! Not my cup of tea at all. He enjoyed them though :) I stuck with my Foo-
Fi drinks as Joel likes to call them (a.k.a. Woody's)

Here's my littlest nephew Isaak eating his marshmallow as Grandma opens some more 'healthy' snacks. She's going to be mad about this one too, but I think it's beautiful :)
It was a wonderful weekend. I'm so blessed to have family on both sides that we LOVE to get together with.
Hope you all had a good time celebrating Canada's 140
th.
Mel
