Izzy is SEVEN!!

Well, my darlin firstborn daughter turned seven today. I can't believe it...seven ! Makes me feel real old :(

Today we had a small party for her. She chose to have a sleepover so was only allowed to invite one or two friends. Unfortunately at the age of seven, girls don't seem to be too thrilled with the whole sleepover idea, so she'll be sleeping alone tonight. Ah well. I know she had fun at her party and I told her we'd invite another friend over sometime soon to sleepover. I remember going away to overnight camp at that age and it was TOUGH sleeping away from home. I can't recall Izzy ever sleeping over at a friends either (other than Grandma and Grandpa's) so I guess we should have realized.

What can I say about Izzy? I had fun talking with her last night about what was happening at that exact time seven years ago. She loves to hear the story of how we thought she was going to be born on August 7, but she fooled us and decided to hang out in her warm uterine home until the morning of the 11th. I tell her that it's because she was waiting for the day of the greatest meteor shower of the year to make a grand entrance. I just learned that this year from a book I've been reading, that every August 11th is the best meteor shower that we can see from earth. So tonight we're heading out to Hullet to get a better view. Should be cool.

My little shining star. She may be the smallest seven year old in Huron County, but she makes up for it with her shining spirit. She is so creative, so beautiful, so full of live and imagination. I love to hear her making up stories (which she's been doing for years), writing scripts, and playing 'fairies' with her sister. She is a lot like me. She loves people, but she gets to the point where she's had enough and needs some quiet time to recharge. She loves to learn, to colour, to read, to create. I'm so excited because I bought her a scrapbook for her birthday. I've always dreamed of scrapbooking with my daughter. I know it'll be tough because Obi and Lyric will want to make one as well, but I'm hoping we can still have fun together scrapbooking. So many of Izzy's past-times are on her own and with the two younger kids I often feel that I hardly spend any time with her. I'm hoping that changes. I need to make an effort to spend time with her alone every day.

Thank you Lord for my sweet Izzy. I'll never forget the moment I found out she was a girl. I was so elated. I'm still so grateful for my firstborn girl. Love you honey!

The kids at the party playing with perler beads...these are the coolest things, thanks for telling me about them Aunt Ruby.

Here's the beautiful birthday girl herself. What a sweetie.
