New Years Eve

This year we invited a couple of friends over with their kiddies to celebrate New Years with us, we had a real blast. It was nice because all the kids had someone their age to play with and no one was left out. Izzy, Elizabeth and Avery played together, Obi and Sam and Lyric and Holly.

We started off by taking the kids to the arena for the free Tim Hortons skate. As you can see, Lyric had an absolute blast :( It was only her second time on the ice this year. Last year we had her on bobskates, so basically it was her second time skating as well since she's now in boys skates.

Despite spending a lot of time of her butt, Izzy still had a blast :) Look at that smile !!

The 7 kids all lined up to watch the Zamboni clear the ice...definitely a highlight from New Years

After skating we had hot chocolate and popcorn and the kids played some games.

After supper we enjoyed some Twister. A kids version first and then the adults (at least the women) were forced to play a game of it as well. Let me tell you, Twister in your 30's is not nearly as easy as it used to be! Here are some highlights:

Here's Joel & Jay enjoying some cuddle-time ;)

The kids loved the game that Jay and Angelle brought called "Chicken Limbo". The crazy chicken would sing an annoying song while the kids had to crawl, or limbo, or crabwalk under him. If the kids hit the chicken it would cluck and laugh. The kids had so much fun and we loved watching them too.

Here's Obi..I think that was a crab walk. Lots of fun.

We got the kids to bed at a decent time so that we could play some games just the adults. It was such a treat to be able to do that since it's so rare to have fun alone with adults now that we all have kids. We played some dice games, some Mad Gab and a rousing game of Dutch Blitz. We all had fun. I think it was around 2:30 a.m. by the time we made it to bed.

The next morning we all had breakfast together and then the men took the kids out to play in the snow...hey, remember snow?? while the women cleaned up and got packed. It was a real fun-filled evening/morning! Thanks for coming guys!
