Thanksgiving

I absolutely love Thanksgiving. I'm thrilled to see that we're supposed to have a sunny weekend, that certainly helps to make it perfect. The whole family is headed up to Marl Lake for the weekend to see my parents. I'm so excited because we haven't seen them since August, and haven't seen my brother's family since the Canada Day long weekend. It's going to be awesome. I'm so grateful that Joel has the weekend off and can go along with us.

I remember when I was growing up we used to rent a cottage for the Thanksgiving weekend. When I was really young it was with friends of my parents, then as I got older it was along with my aunt and uncle and their kids. We've always had the traditional wonderful dinner of turkey, stuffing, potatoes, complete with cranberries and pumpkin pie (or whatever creation I was trying for the year) for desert.

Yes, Thanksgiving is one of my favourite holidays of the year. It's cool to look back over the last year to see the many ways that God blesses our family and to thank Him for it. Of course we should do it every day (and we really try to teach that to our kids). We are so blessed here in Canada, and I know I'm really going to find that out when I visit Colombia in November.

So thanks God for this weekend coming up. I can't wait to spend some good quality family time (no tv, no distractions ... besides cooking!).

We are also hoping to meet the most recent addition to our family tomorrow night if that works out. Just another wonderful blessing that we're thanking God for this year.

Hope you all have a good one. Take the time to thank your Creator for all He's given you!

Melanie
