Proud Mama

Went to Izzy and Obi's school today to help out with hot dog day. Every time I'm there I get the nicest comments about my kids...how sweet they are etc. I am so grateful that God has helped Joel and I to raise some really great kids. Everyone that's a parent knows how tough parenting can be. There are days when I yell (too many!!), days when I lose my temper and have the same tantrums that I punish them for, and yet by the grace of God so far they're turning out pretty well :) I know that this is in large part to the power of prayer. I have a dear Grandma that I know kneels beside her bed and prays daily for me and my family. I will have to pray twice as much when this world loses such a strong prayer warrior.
I have a girlfriend that has a friend that constantly brags about her kids. I don't want to be that person, but I also want them to know just how proud of them I am.
Today when I was leaving the school after volunteering, Obi called after me (even though I'd already kissed him goodbye minutes before), he ran up and hugged and kissed me, right there in the hallway infront of his friends. Can you believe even at the age of 4 they made fun of him? As I was walking out the door I heard my little cuddle monkey say "don't you give your mommy kisses?". I left the school with a huge grin on my face, savouring the moment. It breaks my heart to think that sooner than I realize I will no longer share those kisses in public (but will hopefully still get some cuddles at home :) Time sure flies by.
Tonight I was proud of Obi yet again when I went to pick him up at the bowling birthday party that he had attended. When the birthday boy's mom saw me she said "Obi was such a JOY to have here", she was gushing, "He encouraged and cheered on all the kids when they bowled and he was so polite". Man, I was so proud of that little guy. I praised him several times on the way home. He is such a sweet guy with a real sensitive heart (like his dad :)
Thanks Lord, for wonderful kids even though I so often screw up when raising them...

I LOVE the picture! It's so awesome. Looking at it makes me lonely for them BIG TIME!!! His smile is so incredible. I can't wait to see them. You and Joel have done an awesome job raising those kids. I wish we would see you before you leave, but that doesn't look possible. Love you xoxoxoxo

It's so true. You have three really wonderful kids. Feel free to call me on your "yeller" days and I'll gladly remind you (very gently) how fantastic they are. :)
