Hallowe'en

Well, here are the little monkeys: Izzy was Snow White, Obi was Scooby Doo again this year (a last minute choice) and Lyric was the little wildcat. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the dry weather last night. Today was a challenge though, let me tell you. The school boards are very smart in making the day after Halloween a P.A. Day. After all, we're the ones who let the kids get the candy and eat the candy, so we should deal with the after-effects of the candy right? Unfortunately Joel left at 8 a.m. this morning and I was left to deal with the sugar rush on my own..YIKES. Let's just say Obi lost 6 chocolate bars during supper because he wouldn't settle down. I'll admit the candy, although the major cause of all of the problems today, was also a very good bargaining tool (okay, maybe not, it took 6 candy bars before he took me seriously). Not a good day as a mom.

Tomorrow it's everything back to normal, school, ballet, appointments etc. Hopefully things will settle in again.

I'm really looking forward to Friday night. Every year Joel's band "Change for a Quarter" play in a fundraiser banquet for Big Brothers and Big Sisters (an $80 a plate meal) and all the band wives (or groupies as Joel likes to think of us), get to enjoy the very fancy, gourmet meal. It's something we all look forward to every year. We get to dress up and schmooze amongst Huron County's riches people. It's definitely a different element for us, but we enjoy playing the part for an evening :)

Well, I've got to get to bed. I'm volunteering at the kids school tomorrow morning. Last week they had me helping grade eights with their Algebra (HAHA). I had to have a lesson before the kids got there, lets just say it's been a while. Besides, estoy cansada (I'm tired),

Buenos Noches,

Melanie

ps: i learned another way to say I need to go to the bathroom, Quiero ir el bano. See, I'm catching on to the most important phrases.

This year was the first time my girls have done any trick or treating. I have a major sugar phobia when it comes to my kids! We made a deal ahead of time that they would sell their candy to Jason and I and could buy toys at the dollar store with the money. They were, thankfully, very into this idea. We let them keep a small container full of candy, though, which we figured we'd let them eat all at once and get it over with. What a mistake! Today was horrible! Next year, I'm buying it ALL!!
