Well, I know you want details...I'm just not sure how much I'm ready to write yet. First off, I'm exhausted...a lot of travelling in a short amount of time. So this is what I can share for now...
Colombia was absolutely incredible. It is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to. I loved Medellin. Bogota was nice as well, but I liked Medellin even better. It's a huge city that was built in a valley surrounded by mountains...like a funnel. From the airport on top of the mountain so the seminary we stayed in was at least a 45 minute drive down the mountain. There is hardly a flat street in the entire city, there are hills everywhere. The flowers and vegetation were absolutely breathtaking (will post some later, as well as more details). I'm experiencing some culture shock, but not to the extent that Joel did when he came home. He got to see a lot more of the poverty in the country by visiting families from the churches. We maily stayed in the seminary and at the retreat centre so didn't have a real taste of the living conditions that are the norm there in Colombia.
Above is a picture of the whole group. I will likely post about each couple or family and will definitely share more about my experiences later on. The group was amazing. What struck me most was the feelings of "brotherhood and sisterhood" that we felt immediatly. We all share the love of Christ and even though we couldn't communicate without a translator, we could feel the spirit of God when we were prayed for by our friends. It was pretty incredible. They are some of the most hospitable and friendly people I have ever met.
So, I know I haven't said a lot. I'm sorry that this is all I can manage for now. I'm still processing what I've learned through the experience. It was a great one, I'm so grateful to all the people that helped make it happen.
Until later...
Mel

Welcome home Mel.
I am looking forward to hearing about your experiences and seeing your photos.
What a great opportunity you had to explore a new culture and meet some great people.
We had a really fun time visiting with Izzy, Obi, and Lyric. Joel made us a fantastic dinner too.
Can't wait to see you in a few weeks.
Welcome back! Can't wait to hear everything :)

Dear Mel,
Welcome back. I can't wait to see you for coffee sometime, you'll be able to tell me all about your experiences in Columbia. You were very fortunate to have this opportunity come you're way. I'm sure the people you met felt very fortunate to have you in their lives even if it was only for a short time. God has given you an amazing quality and I'm glad you were able to share you're love with others.
Happy you're home,
Colleen.
It's good to hear that you made it safely home again.
I cannot wait to hear about your stay, I am sure it was an incredible experience.
Looking forward to knowing more
