Well, I can't believe it, but we had yet another snow day today. What do the kids need March Break for? They've had the last 3 school days off in a row! It was a wicked 21 degrees below without the windchill factor today so maybe it was the cold. Or perhaps it was the fact that some of the counties around here had every road closed this morning. Yikes. You wouldn't have believed it though from looking out our window today, it was a beautiful, clear, sunny day. We prayed before bed that tomorrow would NOT be a snow day (more for my sake than theirs :) After doing 24 hours solo on snow days last Friday and today I am more than ready for them to go back. Yesterday when Joel was home for the snow day it was wonderful and relaxing though.
We've been filling up our March break with some wonderful plans that I'm really looking forward to. Starting off with house church Friday night, an "over 20's" event at church Saturday night, then off to my mom and dad's for a few days. A visit with my Grandma next Thursday, then seeing Sari my good old high school buddy for supper at McDonald's Thursday afternoon (so the kids can play). A massage on Friday and a birthday party on Saturday. Lots of great stuff, I'm so thankful that Joel happened to be off next week...what a blessing!
Tomorrow I help out at school with hot dog day. It'll be fun. I've been so impressed with our new school (mostly). Most of the teachers are so positive and fun and you can tell they really enjoy their job. It is such a different atmosphere than the public school they used to go to. Speaking of that, looks like I'll have to apply to the Catholic board if I want to get any EA supply jobs, the board I'm in has just hired a whack of new people so I'm not getting calls anymore. It's scaring me actually, because it was such a perfect set-up for me. I really don't want to get a regular full-time, or even part-time job simply because I refuse to give up my passion of doula work and it's pretty much impossible to find a job that will allow you to take off at a moments notice. I'm trying not to stress too much about it, and leaving it in God's hands. I'll probably send an application to the Catholic board shortly. The only thing is that I wont' be able to work at all in April. Joel's dad is having his much-needed surgery so Joel's taking vacation time to help keep the shop running for the month. It's going to be a busy time, but Dad is going to need the help and I'm glad Joel is able to give him that time. Maybe we can even get our kitchen paid off :)
Anyway, a busy week, and I've still got some postpartum appointments to squeeze in.
Signing off,
Mel
