Anyway, I've been very busy during the last week or so indulging in my favourite passions: Springtime weather, my doula business, and LaTienda.
I have to plant some crocuses. I've always loved them, because my absolute FAVOURITE time of year are those first days of real warm weather in the spring (like we've been blessed with the past two days...heaven!). Anyway, we do have an abundance of these sweet little white flowers that hang like little white drops from bright green stems. I don't know my flower names, but they're nice anyway. The kids are absolutely delighted with them. I spent yesterday afternoon and a little while this afternoon laying on a blanket on my back deck soaking up the gorgeous warm sun and writing in my journal. It's hard to beat that!

I've also managed to get my butt in gear and finish up some work with my January moms. I had a delightful visit last week with this little guy. It's incredible how much a baby can change in two months. I had him cooing and smiling so big with that big gummy 'silent' baby laugh (do you know the one I mean...where they seem to be laughing but no sound is coming out?). Yes, I believe that I love my doula business because I love to help women, but the newborns are certainly a perk :) It's like being an Aunt or a Grandma, I get to snuggle and cuddle and then hand them back when they start to scream...it's perfect.

Finally, I've been holding LaTienda parties for some friends and women at my church and I've really been enjoying it! It's such an incredible blessing to know that I can help these women first-hand to feed their sweet babies. These poor women are used to digging through garbage for food, or prostituting themselves so they can afford to buy a house to raise their children in. But now, thanks to the LaTienda Art Co-op, these women can spend their days together creating beautiful jewelery and making enough money to feed their children beans and rice daily instead of every other day. We take so much for granted. I'm so thrilled that my friends are so impressed with the co-op and want to support it. I have 4 different women who want me to come to their house to give the presentation to their friends, I've had a few friends commit to the Army of 100 (saving $2 a week for a year to help these women purchase their co-op, giving them independence and empowerment). I'm so thrilled at what God is doing through me. I think it's also good for us here in Western culture to remember that we are blessed beyond measure and that we have so much more than so many others. It humbles us, it reminds us to be thankful, it makes us think twice about complaining when we're in overdraft when we get our pay cheques. We really have nothing to complain about when we see these women and the situations they live in.
So, it's been a full couple of weeks. I'm still struggling with a lot of fatigue. Not sure what that's about, but hopefully it will clear up soon. I feel like I've been able to get a lot done in the past few weeks, so that's been great!
I'm also looking forward to the next few days of sun and warmth! I plan to baske in the sun as often as I can, and blow bubbles, and draw on the sidewalk, and go for walks...
