Tomorrow I'll be hanging out at the doula booth at our local prenatal health fair. I believe this is the first local health fair we've ever had. I'm actually really excited about it. I love to talk about my job so it'll be fun to meet people and answer questions etc. I kinda wish I was ready to launch my prenatal classes that I'm considering teaching because I know it would have been a great place to get the word out. Hopefully it becomes a yearly event and I can do that next year.
Joel and Obi are gone now for the Fathers/Sons camping trip that Joel organized himself! He's got almost 60 men and boys going up to Tobermory this weekend for a weekend of fun and hopefully building relationships between men and providing good quality time for dads to spend with their sons. I'm so proud of Joel for the hours and hours of work that he put into planning this weekend. He has a real passion to see men developing close friendships with other men where they can share their struggles and their lives with each other the way that women do (except it some so naturally for us as women!). My women's group has no problem talking candidly week by week about our struggles, our pains, our disappointments, and our dreams. It's like second nature to share our lives with other women and give and receive support. Joel gets so frustrated that it's difficult to have meaningful conversations like this with men. When they get together they tend to talk business: work, sports, construction...you know what I'm saying right ladies?! I'm praying they have an awesome weekend. The weather looks like it's going to be awesome anyway!
I hope you all have a terrific weekend. Enjoy this summer weather.
Mel
