Busy, Busy, Busy

Hope everyone had a safe and fun long weekend. We had a wedding Saturday (which we forgot to take the camera to!!), Sunday we headed up to Hanover to spend a couple of days with my mom and dad. Had a blast swimming, shopping, eating and the kids had some fun with Papa in the peddleboat.

My little Lyric sure is an outdoors girl. I was shocked at her eagerness to join Grandpa, Obi and Izzy in the peddleboat late in the evenings on some fishing expeditions. I figured they'd be back within 10 minutes when she started to throw a screaming fit, but they stayed out for ages. Dad was telling me how much she enjoyed how the boat rocked on the waves when a speedboat would go by and how she'd look up at him with a big grin. That girl was born for the outdoors. Camping and cottaging are definitely favourites of hers. The other two really enjoy camping as well, but even here at home, I have to drag her in the house, she wants to play outside all the time. Sunday night there was a big party on the lake and someone was playing bagpipes. Mom told me yesterday that dad was pretty thrilled out there in the boat with three of his grandkids with bagpipes playing in the background "It doesn't get any better than this" he said to my mom. How cool is that? It thrills me to see my parents enjoying my children. My kids are so fortunate to have 4 loving grandparents and a "Big Grandma" (also known as "Great-Grandma), that are all involved in their lives.

This summer I am making an effort to stop and enjoy the little moments of summer before the kids head to school in September. Watching the kids enjoy an ice cream, or splash in the lake, or play in the sand. Living in the moment is a difficult thing for a 'golden girl' like me. I am always looking ahead and planning (to a fault). Enjoying the moment takes a conscious effort for me. But it sure pays off.

Enjoy your summer all!

Mel
