Good (although WET) Times

Well, despite the rain all weekend (except on the day we had to pack up), we had a great time camping with the Ramers! It was a great opportunity to hang out and get to know eachother better. I was absolutely amazed by how well the kids got along together, giving us the chance to sit and chat together! We had some really fun times including the dads taking the kids on 1.5-3 hour bike rides with the kids (leaving us to some much-appreciated quiet), to salamanders in the tent, to new BBQ sauce creations (YUCK!), to "snack shack" the kids favourite game.

Camping is the greatest chance that we, as families with young children, have to be able to talk with friends. Usually if you go over to someone's house for dinner, you have to leave early to get the kids to bed, and with many children running around the house screaming conversation is difficult. When you're camping, the kids can run around outside, and once the kids are in bed we can all gather at the fire to spend some time together (thank the Lord we had one night without rain to do this).

I am always taken by surprise when I see the first leaves starting to change colour as the summer comes to an end. This year is no exception. I am still surprised when I listen to the weather and realize it won't be going up to 30 degrees. I can't believe Izzy starts school one week from today. Where has the summer gone? I'm not ready to let it go yet. I'm still hoping we can get out for one last camping trip before we close up and park the trailer for the winter. Don't get me wrong, part of me is looking forward to school starting and getting back to some sort of routine. I look forward to spending some days alone with Lyric and I think school will be really good for Obi. Izzy loves school so I have nothing to worry about with her. I am a little nervous since she's starting a new school this year, but she already knows a couple of girls from her class so hopefully they'll make her feel welcome.

It's been a wonderful summer! Thank you Lord! We've had some really great times with family and friends and made some memories that I will never forget. I hope you've all had a good one too!
