Swimming Lessons

Izzy and Obi are taking swimming lessons this week at the local pool in Clinton. I am so proud of the progress they have made in only 4 days. It's interesting how exposure builds confidence so quickly when it comes to the water. Izzy took lessons as a baby and loved the water. Then the other kids came along. I was unable to handle taking more than one baby in the water at a time, so Izzy's swimming stopped, and Obi and Lyric missed out almost completely (other than a few times when camping). This summer we have been swimming a lot more often and I'm thrilled with the fact that we can all swim in a deep pool now, or actually go out far enough at the beach that Joel and I can get refreshed as well (as opposed to only being able to go in up to our knees).

This week has been unrelenting as far as heat (thankfully today seems better). We've been out to two friends pools as well as hitting Goderich beach one evening to cool down before bed. I have been so grateful for our central air this week. We rarely ever turn it on, but it was a necessity this week. I don't know how people functioned without it. One of my dear friends suffered from heat exhaustion on Tuesday evening. Makes me wonder how many calls Joel is missing at work related to this heat!

Thanks God for generous friends who share their pools, a beach only 20 minutes away and central air! We are very blessed.

Hope you're all managing to stay cool too!

Mel
