Literacy Night

Our school had a literacy night at the end of January that was a lot of fun. Unfortunately, Joel was working and couldn't attend, so I was brave and took the three kids myself. I was a little worried since the event started at 7 pm (basically when I start putting kids to bed) and didn't end until 8:30. It was well worth it and I'm glad I took them.

First they listened to some kids tell stories they had written. Then a local woman did some magic tricks to entertain the kids. After that we were divided into 4 groups and rotated through 4 different activities around the school. First we listened to some more stories acted out in one of the classrooms. Next we went to the library for snacks and played the game Scene It Disney edition. It was fun. Next we went to the gym for some riveting floor hockey (pretty hilarious watching the kids play when they were all dressed up as storybook characters). Finally we headed to another classroom to play pictionary on the board. What a super night!

I'm really enjoying our new school. The teachers are friendly and kind (except for Izzy's...but that's for another post), the principal is absolutely amazing, the kids all help each other out, and the parents get involved there. We are very happy with our decision to switch the kids over. Here are some pictures from the event in January:
