Her "birthday week" started on Saturday at my mom and dad's where we had a little party for her. She took the whole birthday cake thing VERY seriously...considering for a while what she would wish for before blowing out her candles, then looking very proud of herself. You can tell that she absolutely adores the attention...it's hilarious!
We've been priming her for toilet training this week as well. We have another small birthday party planned for Saturday (the other Grandma and Grandpa and her best friend Marly), and we keep telling her when she's three she won't have diapers anymore. We're hoping that making a big deal about it will encourage her to be excited about the new task.
So, we went out and bought her some sweet princess underwear (I've never seen underwear that fancy before), and I bought her a doll for Saturday that "pees" in her own potty. I'm hoping all this will lead to my last child being toilet trained (HURRAY!). So tonight I put her in undies and kept asking if she had to pee. After I cleaned up supper I realized she'd peed and pooped in her first pair of undies. I was very careful not to be upset with her, I assured her that everyone has accidents when they're first learning. The thing that stunk most was that she didn't tell me even after she'd had her accident. Ah well, I'm determined that we're going to stick with undies and I'm hoping she is grossed out by the feeling of pee running down her legs so that she learns to go in the toilet.
So it's a big week for my little gal. Hopefully it all goes well and we are able to get rid of the diapers for good.
