My little Man

Well, tomorrow my dear son Obi will start his career as a student. Let me tell you, he is so excited (hard to imagine Obi excited..I know ;) He's literally been counting the days. A few times today I've said, "Obi tomorrow you get to go to school" and he replies with a little scream. It's hilarious. So I told him when we were walking downtown and he says in his serious little voice, "Mommy, don't say that". I say "Why Obi" (hoping he hasn't changed his mind about looking forward to school). "Because," he says, "then I'll have to scream". I just about died laughing.

Our little Obi is famous for his one liners. I wish I could remember more of them right now because he could be a stand-up comedian. The day that I brought the kids home from my mom and dad's when Joel was putting in our new kitchen and flooring, he says "Wow Daddy, I really like the handsome new coat you put on our floor". He also comes up with the sweetest prayers and deep quotes like "It's good to help eachother because that makes a whole world of possibilities". I mean, what year old says that? He cracks me up. He talks to everyone and anyone who will listen. I'm often embarassed when he starts up conversations in a store with complete strangers about whatever topic is in his mind at the moment. I can see him being a big speaker someday and having some very important ideas that he'll want to share with the world. He's such a sweet little man with a big heart.

So my little man will climb on the bus tomorrow with his big sister. Will I shed a few tears? Likely. Even though the last 2 weeks have been torture as he talks nonstop about how it isn't fair that Izzy gets to go to school and he doesn't yet. It's still hard to let go. I've been finding even having Izzy full time this year has been an adjustment.

Dear Lord, please hold my babies safe in Your arms as they venture into this new stage of their lives.

Mel
