School Open House

The above pictures were taken tonight of Izzy's first and second journal entries at her brand new Catholic school. I just had to get a picture. The first one is talking about how Joel caught our coon, and the second about a trip we took almost a year ago to Collingwood where she WANTED to make a nest in the closet and sleep in there :) When Izzy told us about her journaling in the first week of school we just about died laughing. Great, we thought, we'll have the SPCA and the CAS at our doors from her stories! I also loved Izzy's teacher's comment about sleeping in the closet. I made sure tonight at meet the teacher night that she knew Izzy actually chose to sleep in there. She is a very serious woman and she simply told me that Izzy had explained all of that to her. I only wished Joel had been there tonight because he probably would have fallen over backward. From the mouthes of babes eh?

Unfortunately, the stomach flu is RAGING in our home. Sunday night was Obi, last night Izzy puked a dozen times between 12:30 and 5 a.m. (why is it always at night). So tonight I took Obi (recovered) to open house and Joel had to keep Izzy at home (Lyric stayed home too). When I got home at 8 pm the first words out of Joel's mouth were "Well, guess who just puked?" NOOOOOO Yes, my baby girl is now in the "puke" bed (a crib mattress on our bedroom floor so we can get to the puker quickly and cleanup on the plastic mattress is a breeze). So, it looks like we're in for another night of torture. I just pray she only pukes once like Obi, not like Izzy...poor girl. Every 15-20 minutes we would hear her again and she would cry "I'm dying" as she threw up. I was just about crying with sympathy for her. There's nothing worse in the world than throwing up.

Sorry...I realize this blog is vivid and graphic. Not for the faint of stomach.

I am hoping to head to a craft retreat this weekend that has been planned for months. I just pray that I either get the flu now, or don't get it at all. I'd hate to miss my girls' weekend away. Joel and I keep saying it's like we have a ticket to ride on the 'puke train' and there's not a thing we can do about it. Well, I'm holding on...

Would love to write more (wanted to blog about a dear friend going through a tough time), but I just don't have the energy that I need to write a serious blog right now.

Signing off...
Mel

izzy journal entries are great. definite keepers. especially the sleeping the closet thing. the first thing i thought of was cas arap-tap-tapping on your door about that. i also got a real bang out of her crying out while puking "i'm dying". poor thing. she's lucky aunt leah wasn't there though bc i probably would have been laughing too hard everytime she said that. i hope thing clear out of your house soon. sounds like you need to open all your windows and suck that puke bug right out the front door.
