Well, client number one finally had her baby :) No, the picture above is not actually her baby, I got it off of a pregnancy.about.com in the newborn gallery. Obviously as a doula I have to respect the privacy of my clients and since I haven't asked permission to post pictures of the new baby I won't.
Let's just say it was wonderful to get back to doula-ing after a long 7 month break (almost). My poor client had a really difficult time getting labour going so after 12 hours or so I went over and we just relaxed, I did some accupressure, she took some homeopathics and then after a nice foot rub I put her to bed-telling her she needed to get some rest. After a relaxing back massage labour finally kicked in and she had more regular contractions around 10 pm Friday night. By 2:39 a.m. Saturday she'd had her baby! She did a wonderful job and it was such a blessing to be with this couple after attending the birth of her two other children as well. I love home births...I wore my slippers and we had pizza delivered near the beginning of labour and kept it warm in the oven until it was all over.
I praise God that the birth went so well and that she didn't need to be induced, everything worked out perfectly. I had sitters, the midwife wasn't at another birth (she's got 6 women due all very soon) and the baby was healthy and beautiful.
