Where to Begin...

Well, you all know me well, and you know it takes me time to 'unpack' after a trip. So, we'll begin our tales with a little talk about the resort.

To start off, we had an amazing time. We were able to rest, relax, laugh, sleep, eat incredible food, and do whatever else struck our fancy. It was AWESOME.

So here is a picture of our beloved resort. This one was taken when we were skiing back from a trail yesterday afternoon. This picture was taken from the top of Galleairy Lake in Whitney. We skied over the lake to a trail in the woods that crossed into Algonquin park. Unfortunately, they haven't had much snow up there in the last week so this trail was VERY skinny on snow. It was a pretty rough trail to get through, with sticks, stumps, and rocks jutting through the snow and scratching up our skis. Not to worry, I have a triumphant skiing tale to tell you all another day.
The picture below is the room where we stayed:

Unfortunately, it is not the room I booked 6 months ago. Our beloved favourite had NO HEAT so we had to take another room. This one was almost as good, but it wasn't in the main lodge so we had to go outside to get to our dinner and breakfast establishment. This sounds like no big deal, but walking in minus 30 degree temps in high heels is a difficult feat. Oh yes, it was CHILLY my friends. You know those days where you step outside and all the moisture on your face freezes instantly? It was like that every night (and Monday all day). When skiing, my scarf would literally freeze to my cheeks because my breath was making ice crystals form on the scarf. YUP.

We had a wonderful trip. Despite some unforeseen problems (like no heat in the room we booked, not enough snow on the trail and other stories to come), it was an awesome getaway.

Until later...

Mel

Sounds like an awesome, romantic trip. It's those things that don't go as planned that you will remember forever, so I'm sure you're not letting them get you down. You and Joel are such a great couple. Such an inspiration to the rest of us!
