Easter Fun

Here are some pics from our Easter weekend in Hanover. We went up Friday morning and just got back this evening. It was short, but a really great time with my family (My Grandma, parents, brother and his family and us). It was so great to have everyone there. I think we were all kinda relieved that it was only one night though, with the babies up a few times in the night nobody got much sleep (poor Lyric fell out of bed onto my moms cement floor around midnight...horrible).

Anyway, here are the kids decorating Easter eggs: This is Izzy and Rae-Ann. Izzy loves getting together with the Nafziger because she has an older female cousin to play with. They had a fun sleepover together in the 'campfire room' last night (which is my mom's laundry room...we set up a little 'nest' on the floor and they love it). The girls had a great time together this weekend, it made me really happy because I remember how close I was with my only female cousin that was close to my age (Hannah).

Here are Obi, Jakob and Lyric decorating too:

I also really enjoy watching my nephew Jakob interacting with Lyric. For some reason he is really attached to her, which is so cool. He always seems to take care of her and keep her entertained which is fun. Here's a picture of the two of them playing ring around the rosie:

And of course, here's the view out of the back door of my mom's place. Not typical weather for Easter, but hey, the kids had fun out in the snow so I guess we shouldn't complain. It could have rained all weekend and the kids would have been stuck in the house:

Here's a more pleasant Easter-type picture of some flowers my mom got for Easter. Now that's more like it :)

It was a really wonderful time. I am so grateful that we all have such a great time together. I love spending time with my brother and his wife Karie! We always have a blast. It was great to have Grandma around for another Easter celebration. I can't help wondering how many more we'll get to share with her so I treasure every one. Her eyes teared up when we hugged and said goodbye. I know that she treasures the time that she has with us as well. I know how blessed we are to have a Great-Grandma for our kids, because so many kids never get to meet their great-grandparents.

It's been a wonderful Easter with all the necessities: family, great food, chocolate and most importantly a reminder of just how far God has gone to show His love for us...by sending His son to earth to die for us. In the Queen of the Castle book that I've been reading it had a cool Easter activity to do with the kids that we've been doing every night this past week leading up to Easter. We read some scripture that talks about events that happened that week and every night the kids get to search for items that remind them of the story we read. Then all the items are put in a basket that sits on the table for the week. This was the basket on the second day when we'd read about Jesus being anointed with perfume and Jesus entering Jerusalem on a donkey. Tonight the basket is full of things: silver coins, a cross, clothing, a white cloth, a crown of thorns. Then tonight while they're asleep we're supposed to empty the basket, line it with white cloth and put an angel in the basket to represent the resurrection. It's been a great way to keep the kids focused on the real reason we celebrate Easter. It's been fun.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday!
God bless!

Melanie
